Wickman UK are proud to announce that one of our Engineers in Coventry, has won the 2013, Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) award of ‘Young Engineer of the Year’.
Alan joined Wickman straight from school and during this time he has completed his NVQ level 2 & 3 in Mechanical Engineering, a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Engineering (QCF) and is currently studying for a HNC in Mechanical Engineering. Alan at the age of 21 has successfully completed his apprenticeship and is gaining experience as a skilled machine tool fitter here at Wickman, the world leaders in multispindle lathes.
Wickman’s Operations Manager, Ken Steane who nominated Alan for the award earlier this year was informed Alan had been shortlisted and invited to attend the Awards night which was held on 27th March. A group of Wickman employees joined by Alan’s father, Clive Hands, attended the awards ceremony at the ICC in Birmingham and much to everyone’s delight, it was announced Alan had won.
The atmosphere was fantastic. Hundreds of professionals within the manufacturing industry gathered together in dress and tie to celebrate the huge success of selected top achievers across the UK. Alan was presented the award for ‘Young Engineer of the Year’ by Bob Hunt, a leading member of the MTA, accompanied by Sky News reader, Charlotte Hawkins who also hosted the evening’s events.
Everyone within the Wickman Group would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Alan and wish him a very bright future being part of the Wickman Team.
